Parishioners who assist with the Communion Rite at Sunday
and Holy Day Masses are called Extraordinary Ministers of
the Eucharist (EMEs). They also bring the Eucharist to the
parish homebound and provide weekly Communion at two nursing
homes, Heritage Hall and Loudoun Long Term Care Center, and
at three retirement centers, Sunrise of Leesburg, Morningside
House, and MeadowGlen. (Patients in Loudoun Hospital Center
are served by EMEs from St. Theresa's in Ashburn.)
Parishioners interested in serving as Eucharistic Ministers
are required to attend a half-day of diocesan sponsored training
(usually held in May) and receive a mandate from the Office
of Sacred Liturgy. New Eucharistic Ministers are commissioned
in June on the Feast of Corpus Christi. The Arlington diocese
limits the parish to a total of 40 Eucharistic Ministers and
requires that they be at least 21 years of age.
See the current Eucharistic Ministry
Schedule . A list of Eucharistic
Ministers is available if you need to change your schedule.
